This doctoral study programme focuses on independent scientific research in applied and landscape ecology. You develop advanced knowledge of ecological processes in natural and cultural landscapes, interactions between organisms and their environment, and the impacts of human activities on ecosystems. Emphasis is placed on field and experimental research, landscape analysis, ecological assessment and application of ecological principles in landscape planning and conservation. The study promotes interdisciplinary approaches and systematic publication activities of doctoral students.

As a graduate, you are prepared for careers as research scientists at universities and research institutions, or as experts in landscape ecology, environmental planning and nature conservation. You may work in public administration, environmental agencies or consultancy organisations dealing with landscape and ecological assessments.
Doctoral studies are generally provided without tuition fees and are associated with doctoral stipends. Full‑time Ph.D. students receive a doctoral study income, the minimum level of which is set by legal regulations and currently amounts to approximately CZK 25,000 per month; in practice, it may be higher depending on involvement in research projects, publication activity, and other academic duties.
