This doctoral study programme is focused on independent scientific research in the field of wood material engineering. You develop advanced knowledge of the structure, properties and processing of wood and wood‑based materials, including composite and engineered wood products. Emphasis is placed on experimental research, modern analytical methods, material innovation and sustainable use of renewable raw materials. The programme supports an interdisciplinary approach linking material science, mechanical engineering and wood technology, and systematically prepares doctoral students for publication activity and participation in international research projects.

As a graduate, you are prepared for careers as research scientists in academic and research institutions, universities, or research and development departments of wood‑processing, construction and materials industries. They may also work as experts in material innovation, development of sustainable materials and advanced wood‑based products.
Doctoral studies are generally provided without tuition fees and are associated with doctoral stipends. Full‑time Ph.D. students receive a doctoral study income, the minimum level of which is set by legal regulations and currently amounts to approximately CZK 25,000 per month; in practice, it may be higher depending on involvement in research projects, publication activity, and other academic duties.
