The aim of study in the professional Bachelor’s study programmeme is to prepare specialists for industry who will have knowledge of materials, their composition, structure, and production; technological processes; the generation of waste from these processes and its potential hazards in the fields of mechanical and textile engineering; the distribution of hazardous substances in the environment; possibilities for their filtration and separation; protection of human health under operating conditions; occupational hygiene and toxicology; as well as the legal framework and regulations in waste management and the fundamentals of sustainable business development management. Project-oriented teaching within selected courses will teach students to connect theory with practice and develop their ability to solve technical problems both independently and as part of a team. Practical training and excursions within the study programmeme will enable students to shape their professional profile, familiarise them with current issues in selected companies, and facilitate graduates’ transition to a selected employer. Graduates will find employment as technicians in mechanical engineering, textile, and construction manufacturing and processing companies where waste products are generated during the production and processing of materials.

The graduate profile of the study programmeme is characterised by the graduate’s knowledge, skills, and competences, which are in line with the requirements of manufacturing and processing companies for graduates of technically oriented higher education institutions. The development of legislative measures within the EU motivates manufacturing companies to seek professionally oriented graduates who are able to cover a broad range of issues, including materials, technologies, waste and its analysis, health protection, and legislation, while also being closely connected with the manufacturing or processing operations of the given company. Project-oriented teaching within selected courses will teach students to connect theory with practice and develop their ability to solve technical problems both independently and as part of a team. Graduates have knowledge of materials, their composition, structure, production, use, and potential hazards; technological processes, the generation of waste from these processes, and its potential hazards; the distribution of hazardous substances in the environment and possibilities for their filtration and separation; the protection of human health under operating conditions, occupational hygiene, and toxicology; as well as the legal framework and regulations in waste management and the fundamentals of sustainable business development management. Graduates have the skills to perform basic analyses of generated waste; assess the level of hazard posed by generated waste to human health and the natural environment from a short-term perspective; and analyse the level of hazard posed by generated waste to human health and the natural environment from a long-term perspective. Graduates have the competences to propose short-term and long-term solutions to problems in accordance with applicable legislative measures; propose short-term and long-term solutions for the protection of human health and the natural environment; and propose options for addressing waste-related problems, including minimisation, elimination, and recycling.
