The study programme Biomaterials and Biocomposites is a programme in the field of materials chemistry with a specific emphasis on materials technology, which will provide students with the knowledge needed to understand biomaterials and biocomposites used in current practice. The programme is focused both on materials for clinical practice and medical devices, as well as to other substances for non-medical applications listed above. It will develop material engineering, physicochemical knowledge and biological science disciplines and will ensure deep knowledge of the structure and analysis of materials with emphasis on understanding and understanding their interactions with living systems. It will also enable students to master the most modern procedures in areas of biocomposite research with the aim of improving their properties and applying them appropriately in the above-mentioned areas.

Study

A graduate of the study programme Biomaterials and Biocomposites will be profiled as an expert capable of independent scientific research and creative activity in the research, development, preparation, characterization and technology of materials intended for biomedicine and environmental applications, which require specific properties suitable for interactions with living systems/objects. He will be thoroughly familiar with the connections between the structure, composition of the material and its material and processing properties with an emphasis on in vivo use. He will be able to further develop and apply this knowledge in a creative way. In addition to knowledge of technologies and materials, the graduate will be equipped with practical knowledge of experimental methods of characterization and analysis of materials, both in the field of physico-chemical and material, as well as biological properties.
