Childbirth – a complex yet natural process. Do you long to be a direct witness to this miracle in your profession? Or are you attracted by teaching prenatal and parenthood courses and exercises for pregnant women? Then the field of Midwifery is certainly of interest to you. The programme will provide you with comprehensive theoretical and practical qualifications in the areas of midwifery, gynaecology, neonatology, nursing care, and diagnostic and therapeutic methods required for the work of a midwife. Upon completion of the programme, you will independently provide care and take responsibility for the care of women during physiological pregnancy and childbirth, as well as for physiological newborns and newborns requiring special care.
A graduate of the Bachelor’s study programme Midwifery is prepared to independently provide prenatal care in physiological pregnancy, conduct physiological childbirth, and provide care during the postpartum period, as well as professional nursing care for women, newborns and infants up to one year of age. The graduate is able to recognise complications and pathological conditions in good time, provide care in the field of gynaecology, gynaecological surgery and conservative treatment, and use nursing processes in clinical and home care. The graduate is able to respond to the somatic, social and spiritual needs of clients, conduct prenatal courses and educational activities, and participate in research and professional activities in the field. Graduates may find employment in state and non-state healthcare facilities, outpatient and home care, gynaecological and maternity wards, preventive care, paediatric gynaecology, and in research and education.
