Univerzita Tomáše Bati ve Zlíně - Fakulta technologická
Students of the study programme Manufacturing Engineering with specialization gain theoretical and practical knowledge of fundamental and unconventional technological processes, such as forming, casting, pressing, metal and polymer machining, high-speed machining (HSC), laser machining, heat treatment, and new production processes, such as additive technologies or injection of metal powder materials (MIM), for which TBU has a completely unique operating equipment available in the Czechia. The attention is also focused on surface treatment of tools and quantitative evaluation of tool and product surfaces, design of production processes and systems, and on logistics and technological planning, which are used both in metal processing and in plastic and rubber processing technologies.

The interdisciplinary nature of the study enables the education of graduates capable of solving problems related to the processing of metallic and non-metallic materials, specializing in emphasis on multifunctional materials based on plastics, rubber and composites, designing and manufacturing processing tools using production equipment including robots and manipulators. The emphasis is placed on the ability to practically use and develop analytical methods in solving technical problems. Graduates are engineers able to independently and creatively solve the technical and technological preparation of production, and using knowledge of theories, concepts and methods to develop processes, their design and management. Deep knowledge of current technologies, computer technology, production programming and necessary knowledge in the field of materials, technical measuring methods, production logistics and production planning predetermine graduates for extraordinary and promising employment in the production of processing tools, engineering companies with CNC technology, unconventional and additive technologies, and in the operations of plastics and rubber companies. Graduates are able to solve problems related to the processing of metallic and non-metallic materials, with the design and manufacture of tools, as well as with the use of production equipment with the help of advanced research techniques. It has the prerequisites especially for the fulfillment of technical, technological and management functions in the manufacturing industry.
