The follow-up master’s programme builds on the knowledge and skills acquired during bachelor’s studies. The educational concept is directed towards the principal objective of the programme: in addition to acquiring highly specialized knowledge and skills, students gain a broad, high-quality, and comprehensive overview of the interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary aspects of the field of conservation and restoration of fine art and material evidence of past cultures on various supports, both in studio-based and in situ conservation and restoration practice. Education within the programme continues the tradition of thorough craft and artistic training necessary for the high-quality execution of specific conservation and restoration procedures and for an in-depth understanding of the material, aesthetic, and artistic values of artworks. Instruction further develops the European approach to conservation and restoration, grounded in interdisciplinary cooperation, a scientific methodology in the examination of objects and the testing of applied materials, and respect for the historical evolution of the artwork.

Graduates obtain specialized artistic training, advanced theoretical expertise, artistic and professional competencies and skills, as well as essential foundational knowledge concerning specific issues of conservation and restoration within the scope of the relevant specialization studied.
