The Ecosystem Biology programme focuses on ecological processes in soil and aquatic ecosystems, integrating biology with the analysis of interactions between organisms and their environment. Students develop the ability to understand ecosystem dynamics, assess environmental change impacts, and propose measures for sustainable ecosystem management.

The graduate is prepared for careers in laboratories and operations of environmental companies, state authorities managing river basins, soil science institutions, and NGOs, and may continue to doctoral studies in related fields. With additional training in environmental legislation, they are also qualified for positions in public administration and regulatory bodies
