The English-taught degree programme in Ecology provides training in modern ecological research. Courses cover various aspects of ecological theory as well as the analysis and interpretation of ecological data using modern computational approaches. The main focus is on interactions among organisms, interactions of organisms with their environment, and the consequences for populations and functioning of communities. Strong emphasis is placed on students’ own research, which is reported in the Master’s thesis. Lecturers and thesis supervisors conduct high-quality research, often in close collaboration with the Biology Centre of the Czech Academy of Sciences.

Study

You acquire advanced knowledge and practical skills in ecological research, especially the ability to design, conduct, and evaluate field and laboratory experiments. They also gain a strong foundation in statistics, the ability to present research results and write successful grant proposals, and critical-thinking skills for working with scientific literature. Graduates are well prepared to pursue a PhD in Ecology at universities and research institutes worldwide.
