University of South Bohemia in České Budějovice - Faculty of Science
The programme focuses on the environment but also provides a comprehensive education in biology, ecology, landscape ecology, and the functioning of terrestrial and aquatic ecosystems. As part of your studies, you can participate in both basic and applied research in these areas. It differs from other programmes in its greater practical focus on environmental protection, whether at the administrative level or directly in the field or in operations. This is facilitated by external lecturers and summer internships at organizations and companies involved in environmental issues. This study programme helps you enable you to enter the job market after completing your bachelor’s degree, while also providing you with sufficient theoretical preparation for pursuing master’s programmes.

Students will acquire the necessary knowledge in fundamental biological disciplines related to both living and non-living nature, which is a prerequisite for making informed decisions in environmental practice—the field for which the programme prepares them—as well as for further study in related master’s programmes. Graduates will be familiar with modern methods of studying ecosystems, ranging from modern analytical methods to remote sensing. They will be able to interpret environmental data and will be capable of working with and evaluating such data. They will have a basic understanding of legislation and policy related to the environment and nature conservation. Graduates will acquire the ability to work with specialized literature and presentation skills. Last but not least, they will gain a solid command of the language.
