The primary objective of the academically oriented follow-up Master's degree programme Ethics in Social Work is to build upon a comprehensive professional bachelor's education in social work and to further deepen students’ knowledge, particularly in areas where social work is closely connected with ethics. The programme aims to equip students with the ability for independent and critical thinking and to navigate situations in which value systems conflict within the context of social work, including developing students’ skills in managing social services and coordinating participants in the helping process. Students are required to obtain at least 120 credits during their studies: credits from all compulsory courses, the prescribed minimum number of credits from compulsory elective courses, and the remaining credits from optional courses. The programme is completed with a state final examination, consisting of an oral exam in ethics in social work and the defence of a master’s thesis (60–90 pages
General and programme-specific requirements for the admission procedure: submission of an electronic application and attachment of a certified copy of the document (diploma) confirming completion of a Bachelor's (or higher) study programme that meets the qualification requirements for the profession of a social worker in accordance with Act No. 108/2006 Coll., on Social Services, as amended, in the form of a PDF document created by authorised conversion
You will learn to: better understand people and their values; handle situations and communicate in contexts where value conflicts arise; understand the field of social services with regard to its human and ethical dimension; lead social workers with respect for their ethical and worldview motivations; and think critically and argue effectively. You may find employment, for example, as a social worker or as a conceptual or managerial professional in social services.
