The programme assumes basic knowledge of the history of philosophy and systematic philosophy acquired during previous bachelor’s studies. The defining feature of the follow-up Master’s degree programme in Philosophy consists of two approaches, which are also reflected in the two parts of the state final examination. The first approach focuses on the study of philosophy in relation to other social science disciplines (theology, science, ethics, society, and politics). The second approach emphasizes philosophical themes that refer to a religious perspective on the world (e.g. Thomistic philosophy, early modern rationalism, the second scholasticism, and 20th-century Christian and Jewish philosophy, etc.).

You will learn to: gain a deeper understanding of the history of philosophy and the key topics of systematic philosophy; navigate topics related to religious conceptions of the world; independently and creatively reflect on and develop contemporary issues using the intellectual heritage of the past; and interpret and produce complex academic texts. You may find employment, for example, in positions that require broad knowledge, critical thinking, and the ability to clearly formulate ideas (such as an academic professional, editor, PR specialist, or a worker in advisory services, etc.).
