This programme focuses on the comprehensive study of processes in aquatic ecosystems, i.e., on the flows of matter, energy, and information between their individual compartments, including catchments. The highly interdisciplinary programme interlinks holistic research of fishponds, reservoirs, and lakes with the catchment processes, including involvement in long-term aquatic ecosystem research or applications to water quality management. Special emphasis is placed on the state-of-the-art methods, such as next generation sequencing, stable isotopes, stoichiometry, mesocosm experiments, etc.The programme is accredited jointly with the Biology Centre of AS CR in České Budějovice and the Institute of Microbiology AS CR, the Algatech Center in Třeboň
Article 3. Apply to the Doctoral study programme through STAG within the stated dates, with annexes and admission fee (Article 5). Applicants may be: a) Czech Republic citizens meeting this decision; b) foreign nationals meeting special rules for foreign nationals at universities in Czechia. Include programme name and supervisor who agrees to supervise you. You will learn to to use the knowledge of current issues and methods of hydrobiology and limnology, focused primarily on research of ecosystems of valley reservoirs and lakes, chemical processes and nutrient transformation, production and microbial processes taking place in surface waters, comprehensively design and conduct experiments and write grant proposals, evaluate and critically interpret the achieved results, write and present scientific publications and project outputs. Graduate destinations include researcher, leaders in institutions focused on hydrobiological and limnological research and water management, specialist in research and educational institutions, universities, institutes of applied research in water management, or in agriculture, forestry and nature protection, expert in museums, state and public administration institutions, commercial organizations and non-profit organizations in the field of water management and the environment.
