The Population Protection (CBRNE) study programme prepares professionals for public administration, crisis management departments, and industrial workplaces dealing with hazardous substances detection. You gain knowledge of the causes, prevention, management, and impacts of emergencies and crisis situations arising from natural, technological, economic, or social events. The programme also focuses on accidents involving chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear factors, including their effects on humans, flora, and fauna, as well as detection and prevention methods. In today’s world, risks are increasing due to climate change, more frequent natural disasters, the growth of industrial activities involving hazardous materials, and the rising threat of terrorism. As a result, there is a growing demand for experts capable of planning and managing these situations. Graduates of this programme represent a key source of such qualified professionals.

Students will learn to design and evaluate the effectiveness of preventive measures for emergency situations while serving in operational positions within public administration, integrated rescue services, industry, agriculture, and research institutions,assess the severity of accidents and emergencies and propose appropriate technical and organisational measures, provide adequate emergency and healthcare assistance, participate in accident and incident investigations and determine their causes and contributing factors, contribute to the development and improvement of crisis management systems, participate in the education and training of students at secondary and higher vocational schools, work in information and advisory centres focused on emergency preparedness and crisis management. Career opportunities include positions such as Crisis Management Specialist, Member of the Integrated Rescue System or the Armed Forces of the Czechia, Crisis Manager, Accident and Incident Investigator, Risk Prevention and Emergency Preparedness Specialist, Teacher of Vocational and Technical Subjects, Specialist in power plants, regulatory authorities, and other specialised institutions.
