This study programme aims to prepare a university-educated and professionally prepared worker who will be able to act as a specialist in the field of paediatric nursing, i.e. to prepare a paediatric nurse to provide nursing care to healthy and sick children aged 0-18 years inclusive, in accordance with their age and current needs in health and illness. Graduates will be licensed to practice the nursing profession without professional supervision.

New students are admitted once a year, and entrance exams for the following academic year are usually held in June. 1) Submission of an electronic application via the STAG system. 2) Payment of the admission procedure fee. 3) Submission of the required documents (e.g. medical certificate, secondary school leaving certificate, diploma depending on the type of study). 4) Completion of the entrance examination, if required for the given study programme. 5) Evaluation of the admission procedure and publication of results. 6) The possibility to file an appeal against a rejection decision within the specified deadline.

Study

Students will learn to provide care for healthy and ill children aged 0–18 years in accordance with their developmental stage and current health needs, perform examinations and therapeutic procedures prescribed by physicians, participate in educational and developmental care supporting the healthy growth and development of children in both outpatient and inpatient settings, contribute to health promotion and disease prevention campaigns, including the prevention of injuries, bullying, and risk behaviours, provide home visits, assess the home environment in terms of supporting healthy child development, and offer guidance on hygiene, breastfeeding, nutrition, and elimination, assist during childbirth, provide immediate newborn care, including the initiation of neonatal resuscitation when necessary, monitor thermoneutral conditions and neonatal adaptation, and educate mothers on newborn care. Career opportunities include positions such as Paediatric Nurse, working in primary care practices for children and adolescents, specialised outpatient clinics, general paediatric and neonatal wards, paediatric and neonatal intermediate and intensive care units, children's rehabilitation and recovery centres, specialised paediatric inpatient departments (e.g., psychiatry, cardiac surgery, oncology, and other specialist fields).
