Graduates of this study programme will be able to assess the current state and bio-psycho-social needs of the woman and the newborn on the basis of the knowledge acquired in midwifery, medical and human sciences and skills acquired in professional clinical practice, as well as to respond appropriately and provide the necessary care to the woman in the period of health, physiological pregnancy, physiological childbirth, in the postpartum period and care for women with gynaecological diseases. Graduates will be licensed to practice the nursing profession without professional supervision.

New students are admitted once a year, and entrance exams for the following academic year are usually held in June. 1) Submission of an electronic application via the STAG system. 2) Payment of the admission procedure fee. 3) Submission of the required documents (e.g. medical certificate, secondary school leaving certificate, diploma depending on the type of study). 4) Completion of the entrance examination, if required for the given study programme. 5) Evaluation of the admission procedure and publication of results. 6) The possibility to file an appeal against a rejection decision within the specified deadline.

Studium

Students will learn to diagnose pregnancy and monitor normal physiological pregnancies, including performing examinations necessary for monitoring, supporting, and ensuring healthy fetal development, prescribe or recommend examinations required for the early detection of pregnancy-related pathologies, support and guide women throughout pregnancy, childbirth, and the postpartum period, provide nursing care to newborns and women in the postoperative period, lead antenatal education classes and pregnancy exercise programmes, apply relaxation techniques and basic psychotherapeutic approaches, organise and deliver parenthood preparation programmes, including comprehensive preparation for childbirth, guidance on hygiene, and support for breastfeeding and optimal newborn nutrition. Career opportunities include positions such as Midwife in inpatient gynaecological departments, Midwife in labour and delivery units, Midwife in neonatal departments, Midwife in obstetric and gynaecological operating theatres, Midwife in private gynaecological practices, Midwife in private midwifery practices, Community and home care midwife, Specialist practitioner in obstetrics and gynaecology settings (e.g., reproductive medicine and fertility clinics).
