Doctoral studies in the Fishery study programme present an interesting opportunity to continue acquiring scientific knowledge according to an individual study plan. Deepening the knowledge and skills acquired in the master's degree, these studies are strongly linked to professional specialization, usually in the context of current research issues focused on pond farming, biology and fish farming, fish stock conservation, fishery management of open waters, maintaining hydrocenosis of open waters in accordance with current conservation approaches and other related areas.
1. Choose your study programme. 2. Choose a doctoral thesis topic and contact the supervisor. 3. If the supervisor agrees, submit an e-application and pay CZK 700. 4. Deliver a list of marks and credits from Bachelor’s and Master’s studies, verified by your university Study Office. 5. Submit an original or officially certified copy of a Master’s or higher diploma; foreign university graduates submit proof that the qualification allows doctoral study in that country. 6. Add a structured CV with education, expert or research activities, publications, lectures or reviews, a cover letter explaining interest in DSP at FFPW USB, the Ph.D. topic and method, topics of your bachelor and diploma theses, and a positive supervisor statement. Graduates: have scientifically and analytically sound knowledge in the field of fishery, with focus on ecology of still and running waters, aquaculture systems, and the biology and systematics of fish vertebrates, have good scientific insight into the current issues related to the topic of their dissertation, with an international perspective, have good understanding of the latest data processing methods and know how to work with sources, are top-quality researchers at the European or world level, with the ability to apply the acquired knowledge and experience in a further scientific career at Czech, European or non-European scientific institutions engaged in basic and applied research, are able to work as innovators or highly qualified fish farmers / processors in production companies, feed or processing plants, or consulting firms are able to apply new professional and technological knowledge to the current Czech or international aquaculture in order to increase the efficiency and quality of production of fish and other aquatic animals, are qualified for a career of specialized clerks in public administration at the level of ministerial, regional or municipal authorities in the field of agriculture, fisheries and hunting, are able to participate in the activities of professional institutions focused on the management of open waters, fishing, or maintaining ichthyofauna of open waters. You can become: Researchers at institutions specialised in basic and applied research related to fishery, agriculture, food industry, veterinary medicine, natural sciences or other related fields, University pedagogues focusing on fishery, agriculture, natural science, food, or veterinary medicine, Innovators or highly qualified fish farmers/processors in production companies, feed or processing plants, or consulting firms, Fishing technologists specialised in increasing the efficiency and quality of fish production and fish products manufacturing, Self-employed fishery professionals, Senior managers in fish farming and fishing companies, Specialized officers in public administration at the level of ministerial, regional or municipal authorities in the field of fishery, agriculture, food, nature protection, or the environment, Experts working in institutions focusing on open water management, fishing, or maintaining open-water ichthyofauna.
