In the bachelor’s degree programme in Zootechnics, You prepare for a wide range of professional activities in animal production at the level of agricultural enterprises and for work in breeding and livestock organisations. The bachelor’s study programme in Zootechnics prepares graduates of grammar schools and secondary vocational schools for practical employment in the field of livestock breeding in agricultural enterprises and family farms. Graduates of this programme possess both theoretical and practical knowledge of the breeding of individual species of farm animals, based on fundamental knowledge in zoology, chemistry, anatomy, physiology, and an understanding of biochemical processes and functions taking place in animal organisms. These competencies are complemented by knowledge of the principles of breeding technology and techniques, management, organisation, and the economics of production, including ensuring production quality. Attention is also paid to animal welfare and health, ethics of animal husbandry, the relationship between humans and animals, and the secondary functions of agricultural production with regard to environmental impacts and the preservation and management of the landscape. Graduates find broad employment opportunities in primary agricultural production, as well as in service and advisory organisations, supplier companies, and recognised breeding associations. They meet the requirements for organisational positions within breeding organisations and enterprises and for employment in companies focused on animal nutrition and reproduction. The best students may continue their studies in a follow-up master’s degree programme.

Upload officially verified annual secondary school reports to the portal as PDFs from authorised conversion – Czech POINT; for the final year, upload the mid-year report if you have not yet completed studies. You may also submit a cumulative record electronically signed by the headmaster. If you have passed the maturita, upload an officially verified copy of the maturita certificate as a PDF from authorised conversion – Czech POINT. Applicants who have completed secondary education submit it with the application; final-year students no later than the end of June. Ranking is based on secondary school results and admission continues up to the set quota. There is no entrance exam for Bc. study programmes.

Graduates of the bachelor’s degree programme in Zootechnics possess comprehensive theoretical and practical knowledge in the field of livestock breeding. They are familiar with the biological foundations of animal production, including zoology, chemistry, anatomy, physiology, and biochemical processes occurring in animal organisms. They understand the principles of breeding technologies, management, and organisation of animal production, as well as the economic aspects of production, including quality assurance. Emphasis is placed on animal health and welfare, ethical aspects of animal husbandry, and environmental considerations, including landscape management. You will be able to work independently as well as in teams to solve professional tasks in practice and find employment in agricultural enterprises, breeding organisations, advisory and service companies, and businesses focused on animal nutrition and reproduction. They are also prepared for organisational and managerial roles and may continue their studies in a follow-up master’s degree programme.
