University of West Bohemia - Faculty of Mechanical Engineering
The three-year bachelor’s study programme is intended primarily for those who plan to continue in follow-up master's’s study programmes. The focus of the study programme reflects the societal need to achieve long-term environmental and social sustainability in company management. It was created, among other things, on the basis of practical requirements resulting from cooperation with dozens of companies not only in the Pilsen Region. The bachelor’s thesis is replaced by a practical project, which students may, if interested, carry out directly in a specific company.
You will acquire knowledge in materials engineering, especially regarding the impact of various types of materials, including recycled ones, on the environment. You will also focus on their processing technologies, sustainable design procedures, the efficiency of manufacturing processes and reducing energy intensity of production. The study programme is in accordance with European legislation concerning environmental, energy and climate goals aimed at achieving climate neutrality by 2050. The programme also includes language training. It is expected that graduates of this programme will primarily continue in a follow-up master's’s study programme. They will also find employment in industrial sectors dealing with environmental and energy sustainability issues. They may work as technologists or project managers in companies focused on optimizing production processes to reduce environmental impact and energy consumption. They may also work as specialists in materials, recycling and the circular economy. They may be employed in corporate departments for sustainable development, integrating environmental and climate goals into corporate culture and processes. The acquired interdisciplinary education also enables them to work in consulting or advisory positions in sustainability or energy efficiency.
