Do you enjoy designing new solutions to interesting problems using algorithms, mathematics, machine learning and other unusual approaches? Don't you want to deal with UML diagrams, software sustainability or the sophisticated team management? Do you want to expand your knowledge from the fundamental areas of computer science to a specific application area? In that case, the follow-up Master's degree study programme in Informatics and Its Specializations may be the right one for you. The specific application area that you will focus on during your studies is determined by the chosen specialization. The programme is divided into three specializations: Medical Informatics, and Computer Graphics. The link to an e-application is available from the websites of these specializations. *********** Medical Informatics specialization of the study programme Informatics and Its Specializations is designed for those who want to learn how to create software that can improve the lifestyle of patients suffering from various diseases or even save human lives, not only standard software, such as accounting applications. Graduates of this specialisation will gain in-depth knowledge and practical skills covering all essential computer science topics, e.g., artificial intelligence and machine learning, digital image processing and visualisation, so that they can participate in the analysis and processing of biomedical data. You can find more detailed information on the Department of Computer Science website (only in Czech). Further information and instructions for applying for the study are provided on the faculty website *********** The Computer Graphics specialization of the study programme Informatics and Its Specializations is focused on the creation and processing of graphical information, which is typically the preparation, modification, storage and visualization of geometric models, data visualization, and digital image processing. The specialization is scheduled for those who want to see the results of their work, help users see and understand their data, produce internationally understandable results, and decorate the world. You can find more detailed information on the Department of Computer Science website (only in Czech). Further information and instructions for applying for the study are provided on the faculty website . *********** Specialization Natural language processing of the follow-up Master's study programme Informatics and Its Specializations deals with automatic analysis, processing and understanding of human speech. It is intended for everyone who wants to help facilitate communication in everyday life using a computer. Given that natural language also occurs in the form of image documents, we also focus on image processing such as segmentation and detection of text and objects and optical character recognition. You can find more detailed information on the Department of Computer Science website (only in Czech). Further information and instructions for applying for the study are provided on the faculty website in the admission procedure section.

Studium

During your studies, regardless of specialization, you will acquire mathematics and computer science theoretical knowledge and practical skills in the areas of signal processing, image processing, statistics and artificial intelligence. Further, knowledge in areas corresponding to chosen specialization will be advanced. The primary employment of graduates is in national and international companies specialized in the chosen application area, especially as analysts or developers. After graduation, you can work independently as well as in a team. Graduates can also work as researchers and can continue their studies as students of the doctoral study programme, e.g. study programme in Computer Science and Engineering guaranteed by the Faculty of Applied Sciences. *********** During your studies, you will acquire theoretical knowledge and practical skills in almost all areas of the scientific field of medical (or biomedical) informatics, namely in databases in healthcare, clinical decision support systems, medical signal processing, medical image processing, and neuroinformatics. You will be able to: - design and implement a software solution requiring in-depth knowledge of biosignal (e.g. EEG or ECG) or digital image (medical images) processing, or statistical analysis and processing of structured data (e.g. laboratory results) and associated metadata,
- process biomedical data efficiently and extract knowledge from it, including using modern machine learning methods, advanced algorithmic approaches and parallel processing tools,
- design visualization of large-scale data, ensuring minimization of potential misinterpretation,- implement and verify a simple model of a physiological system, - and interact effectively with doctors and biomedical professionals, i.e. users, software products, experimenters, authors and co-authors of analyses, as well as mathematicians and engineers, i.e. creators of modelling approaches. The primary employment of graduates is in companies and organizations specialized in developing or using biomedical software products, especially at positions: software developer, data analyst / specialist, researcher. *********** Creating graphic outputs and processing geometric data is entertaining, but one has to learn something to manage it: - To create and process geometric and graphical models and algorithms. - To process signals and digital images. - To utilize AI techniques and various modern technologies.- To understand data users. - To work on small as well as bigger projects. For human beings, visual information is easier to understand than textual. Its production and processing are needed in various application areas. An expert in this branch accesses application data for human understanding. The graduates are required not only in the game industry or GIS companies, they are usually good at programming and processing big data, so they are welcome even in more generally oriented software companies. *********** The you will be introduced to machine learning and artificial intelligence methods that are used today for language processing and image analysis. Of course, deep neural networks, such as convolutional networks, recurrent networks with memory, or transformer models, which achieve the best results in the given area, will not be left out. The field of application is getting bigger and bigger! Currently, not only large companies such as Google, Seznam, or Microsoft, but more and more smaller companies are looking for their own automatic solution for text or image processing. Therefore, there is an increasing demand for experts in this field. However, if you are interested in the research and like to "play", it is of course possible to apply in the academic sphere.
