This study programme provides students with in-depth knowledge of care during pregnancy, childbirth and puerperium, as well as with knowledge related to prevention, protection and care of health. The programme emphasizes a holistic bio-psycho-socio-spiritual approach to midwifery, and focuses on community care. Students regularly participate in a regional conference organized by the Professional Association of Midwives in the Pilsen Region, or in the festival for professionals and the general public entitled The Wife’s and Mother’s Journey organized by the Department of Nursing and Midwifery.

You learn how to independently provide basic and expert care to pregnant women, women in labour, women in puerperium and newborns. Moreover, they are able to assist doctors during complicated births and gynaecological surgeries. After graduation, you can find employment in delivery rooms, and gynaecological departments, neonatal departments, gynaecological emergency departments, as well as in community and home care.
