Západočeská univerzita v Plzni - Fakulta strojní
The two-year follow-up master's’s study programme is intended for those who wish to gain expert knowledge in the field of industrial engineering. It is a relatively young multidisciplinary field combining technical knowledge with business management expertise. Graduates will gain competencies for effective management and coordination of production systems, design of modern production in the spirit of Industry 4.0, or solving projects aimed at increasing process performance within a company. Simply put, the main tasks of every industrial engineer are the optimization, rationalization and improvement of production and non-production processes. You will therefore acquire knowledge not only in modern production management concepts but also learn to understand the interconnections and essence of processes in industrial companies throughout the entire product life cycle.
You can look forward to subjects such as logistics, ergonomics, simulation of production systems, production management or work rationalization. You will gain knowledge in IT support of business processes, business economics and management. Already during your studies, you will have the opportunity to work on real projects for industrial companies. In teaching, we use modern technical equipment. Our students have access to the Fischertechnik kit, on which you learn to build and program various models, for example an automated warehouse, product sorter or robotic arm. The department also has two unique laboratories – a virtual reality laboratory and a laboratory focused on Industry 4.0, where you will learn, for example, how a collaborative robot or an automated guided vehicle (so-called AGV) works. Thanks to your broad knowledge, you will find employment in many positions in industrial companies of various sizes. You may work, for example, as process or industrial engineers, logistics managers or production directors. The target focus is primarily on production, logistics and project preparation departments, but you may also work, for example, in economic, planning, information or human resources departments.
