VŠB - Technical University of Ostrava - Faculty of Mechanical Engineering
The aim of the study in the Mechatronics study program is to prepare graduates for research and development work, for the design and construction of mechatronic systems, i.e. systems with a complex structure including mechanical, electrical and control subsystems for applications in various types of production with various technologies. The study is focused on mastering the methods of analysis and synthesis of control of dynamic systems, the design of control systems based on industrial control systems, industrial PCs, embedded systems, acquiring knowledge of modern sensor technology and actuators, the development of integrated control systems using the model-based-design method, the application of modern control methods, artificial intelligence.

Graduates of the Master's degree program in Mechatronics can analyze the dynamic properties of systems with a complex structure, using methods of mathematical-physical modelling and simulation of dynamic systems, and master the means of computer support for their design. They are familiar with actuators and control of electric, hydraulic, and pneumatic drives. They have knowledge in the field of automatic control, applied mechanics, electronics, microprocessor and sensor technology, signal processing, image recognition, and artificial intelligence, which will enable them to use modern control methods and means and thus achieve the required properties of the designed mechatronic system. The acquired qualification provides the prerequisites for their application in research, development, design, and testing of machines and equipment with high utility properties for demanding production technologies and operations in the concept of Industry 4.0.
Choose VSB – Technical University of Ostrava and study at a university that has brought together engineering, economics, natural sciences and the arts for more than 175 years. Its modern study programmes respond to real-world challenges and build on top-level fundamental and applied research. Thanks to its tradition, close cooperation with industry and partnerships with many Czech and international universities, you will join an environment that creates innovative solutions across a wide range of fields and gives graduates strong career prospects.
