The programme prepares graduates for the profession of civil engineer with a focus on building services engineering and the indoor environment of buildings. Graduates acquire specialist knowledge and skills in the design of building services systems (sanitary engineering, heating, ventilation, air-conditioning, and cooling), the design of energy-efficient and smart buildings, the design and assessment of healthy indoor environments, and energy auditing.

Graduates will find employment as civil engineers specializing in building services engineering and the indoor environment of buildings, working both in design offices and in construction companies. They may hold professional, supervisory, and managerial positions at various levels of responsibility. They are particularly employed in the fields of heating, sanitary engineering, ventilation, and gas distribution systems in residential, public, industrial, and agricultural buildings. They may also work as specialists and consultants in building thermal engineering, building energy performance, building acoustics, and daylighting. Further career opportunities include the management of manufacturing processes for building services components, operation and maintenance of existing systems, work in specialised building services laboratories, as well as positions in administration and facility management.
