Czechia Is the Right Choice

You applied to several universities worldwide and are now torn between studying in your home country, somewhere beachy and sunny, someplace in the far east, or at the heart of Europe. The final call is truly the hardest to make. To alleviate any decision fatigue, this blog will encourage you to commit your studies and youth to the diverse and beautiful Czechia!

Academically, Czechia is notorious for its old and gothic university environment; one which is globally renowned and the locals take pride in. In fact, Charles University (Universita Karlova), founded in 1348, is the oldest university in Central Europe and the alma mater of individuals such as genius engineer Nikola Tesla, renowned storyteller Franz Kafka, and discoverer of blood types Jan Jansky. Other than Prague, cities such as Brno, Pilsen, Hradec Kralove, and Olomouc have notorious study programs ranging from STEM to humanitarian studies! Transportation to the capital is also simple, and these cities allow closer proximity to must-see places in Czechia, such as Karlovy Vary and Cesky Krumlov.

However, as a Bachelor’s student in Prague, my reasoning for studying in Czechia is not solely academic. Yes, a rigorous program from a credible university is essential, but what about the study atmosphere, making friends, getting to know locals, exploring and travelling, and enjoying life? Personally, these aspects outshine any other choice I was making when deciding where to study.

Czechia is known for its architecture, has the most castles in Europe, and has a great sports culture (including hockey, tennis, etc.). Its strategic location at the “heart of Europe” allows you to explore new countries easily and finish your travel bucket list by the time you graduate! Making friends is also a blast, as Czech has a lot of international students; you will get to know people from all around the world and connect with individuals from your homeland. Speaking from personal experience, Prague is a city you get to know and becomes your own. With easy transport, a sense of safety, and its small size, returning during the fall and spring for the academic semester will become an exciting time and a comforting routine.

If you decide to study in Czechia, know that you are making the right choice. You will graduate with a high-quality degree and remember your university years with a smile on your face as you reminisce on your favourite study places, friendships, and travels within Czechia and abroad.

This feeling intensified, considering I also celebrate my birthday in December, leading to three consecutive celebrations - birthday, Christmas, and New Year - all far from my loved ones. However, little did I know that these Christmas celebrations would evolve into an unexpected adventure of joy and connection.
