I chose the University of Applied Psychology because I had been interested in psychology for a long time and wanted to support that interest with formal academic study. I was looking for a university that would offer more than just theory – one that could connect psychology with real-life practice, communication, HR, and working with people.
A University Where You Don’t Feel Like Just a Number
From the very beginning, I was pleasantly surprised not only by the quality of the teaching but also by the community of students. I met people who share similar values and outlooks, and I found myself in an environment where I feel comfortable and naturally at ease.
I also truly appreciate the approachable and supportive attitude of the lecturers. You never feel like an anonymous student or just another number in the system. Instead, you are treated as a valued member of the university and an active participant in discussions.
Psychology That Continues Beyond the Classroom
The classes are so inspiring that we often continue discussing what we have learned long after the lectures are over. We naturally bring psychological topics into everyday conversations, sharing our opinions, experiences, and different perspectives.
That is probably what I enjoy most about studying psychology. You do not stop thinking about the subjects once you leave the classroom. The programme has also shown me how widely psychology can be applied – not only in the workplace, but also in everyday life and communication with others.
The Beginning Was Challenging, but I Was Never Alone
Of course, starting university was a big change for me. To be honest, I had no idea what terms like seminar paper or case study actually meant, and some of the first assignments seemed quite intimidating.
“What really helped me was the attitude of the university, the lecturers, and my classmates. From the very first lessons, everything was explained patiently and clearly. We were given templates, guidelines, and practical examples, so I never felt that I had to figure everything out on my own.”
– Petra Schuhová, University of Applied Psychology
Another great advantage was that we could often choose topics that genuinely interested us. Thanks to that, I sometimes became so immersed in my assignments that I had to be careful not to go far beyond the required length.
The opportunity to explore subjects in depth has made my studies feel much more personal and meaningful.
Combining Work and Study Is Possible
Even though I study in a part-time format while working, I have managed to balance both very well. Classes take place at weekends, and, somewhat surprisingly, I often see them as a chance to relax mentally and switch my focus to something completely different.
When you study a subject you truly enjoy, preparing for classes or writing assignments no longer feels like an unpleasant obligation. Instead, it becomes an opportunity to dive deeper into topics that genuinely interest and inspire you.
University Life Is About More Than Studying
I also really enjoy the student life that comes with the programme. My classmates and I often stay overnight in the accommodation available in the university building after classes, go out for dinner together, or take walks around Litoměřice and Terezín.
For me, studying is not only about learning. It is also about experiences, inspiring people, and being part of an environment where you can truly grow.
A University You Look Forward To
I have never been the type of person who particularly loved school. I always saw it more as something I simply had to do. That is why it came as such a pleasant surprise to discover how much I enjoy studying at the University of Applied Psychology.
This university has shown me that it is possible to genuinely look forward to classes, enjoy discovering new ideas, and find a field that truly feels right. I feel that I have gained not only new knowledge but also a better understanding of myself and the direction I want to take in the future.
