The study provides theoretical and practical knowledge in the fields of biotechnology based on the current state of scientific knowledge, research and development. The study also includes disciplines focused on biochemical, microbiological, chemical and sensory changes in biotechnology products and disciplines also dedicated to molecular biological and toxicological analysis of raw materials, intermediate products and biotechnology products. Attention is also paid to legislative aspects of the entire production process and marketing of products. Students will also acquire high-quality laboratory skills with an emphasis on knowledge of modern methods of instrumental analysis and testing of microorganisms.

Graduates are professionally trained for technological management and control positions in biotechnological and food companies and other fields where living organisms or their metabolites are applied. They have theoretical and practical knowledge of the nature of microbiological and biotechnological processes. They are proficient in the techniques of cultivation of organisms and preparation of biotechnologically relevant substances and are thus able to use microbial cultures appropriately in biotechnology and also have knowledge of the biotechnological production of food additives, enzyme preparations and also the biosynthesis of individual components of food supplements. Graduates also have knowledge of quality, hygiene and health management of food and biotechnology products and are able to apply good manufacturing and hygiene practices in individual biotechnology and/or food chain operations.
