Want to share your own story one day?

Our ambassadors are here to share their experience and help future students imagine what studying and living in Czechia can be like. Once you become a student in Czechia, you can join the programme too — and help others take their first step

Why become a Study in Czechia ambassador?

As a Study in Czechia Ambassador, you can share your student experience with people who are thinking about studying in Czechia or have already arrived here. You can:

  • create your own content for our social media or student blog
  • share your journey as an international student in Czechia with global audience
  • show future students why Czechia is the smart choice
  • build practical experience in communication, content creation and social media

Being an ambassador is not only about giving advice. It is also a chance to learn, grow and meet other active international students. The Study in Czechia Ambassador Programme is a volunteer-based programme. We are looking for students who want to represent their experience honestly, help others find their way and show what student life in Czechia can look like.

As part of the ambassador team, you may also join workshops, trips and other activities organised by Study in Czechia. Your work can help you gain new skills, spend your free time meaningfully and build experience for your future. A reference letter from Study in Czechia can also support your CV or future applications.

Who we are looking for

You do not need to be a professional content creator. What matters most is your motivation, reliability and willingness to share your experience with others. We are looking for proactive international students who:

  • enjoy sharing their experience of studying and living in Czechia
  • want to support future and current international students
  • are interested in content creation, social media, communication or marketing

My Journey Learning Czech

It’s 2014 and I’m standing in a small shop in Long Island City, New York - Slovak Czech Varieties. Offering products from the two countries that previously made up Czechoslovakia, they have a modest collection of Czech and Slovak books. I pick one up. I think, maybe I can identify at least one of the of words I know? Žaba, tráva, kráva, pes, brambor, opice, Akta X? I open the book. “Wtonkg woeikl kje oweiuot.” Maybe the next page? “Lkjkdgsik lksdjgls kiotwgndkjhg.” Nope - just gibberish. Am I ever going to learn this language?

Green Student Life: Sustainability in Czechia

When I first arrived in Prague as an international student, one thing that quickly caught my attention was how visible sustainability is in everyday life. Walking through the city, I often noticed clothing donation containers on street corners, recycling bins for electronics, and farmers’ markets selling fresh local food on weekends. At first, these small details felt unusual to me. But over time, I realized they are simply part of daily routines in Czech cities.

Overcoming Culture Shock

Whether you are moving to Czechia from South Africa, Slovenia, or even Slovakia, you will experience some degree of culture shock. And while “culture shock” can have a negative connotation, it doesn’t have to. Take it from me - an American expat living in Czechia since 2018. The United States and Czechia are no doubt culturally different (see the encyclopedia entry on: car culture, or socks-with-sandals). But today, this country is my home-away-from-home.
